As a wedding planner, we are inspired by many many things. Our favorite things that inspire us are colors! A single color can be paired with different options to result in a gorgeous combination. We’ve recently been inspired by ‘Dusty Blue’. We’ve had a few clients mention they were wanting it to be a part of their weddings, so we thought we would do some research and get inspired too!
Dusty Blue has a natural sophistication that looks calming, relaxed and luxurious.
A basic way to use this color is to only use this color. Different hues can be used in an ombre (we’re still seeing it as a trend!) effect, showing lighter and darker shades. Think outside the box with this one and maybe the bride & groom can wear the main color?! We always love a guy in a blue suit, and a very fashion-forward bride can pull this look off! Some of our favorite flowers (blue hydrangeas & dusty millers) couldn’t fit this dusty blue theme more perfectly.
One of our recent clients wants to use Dusty Blue & Cranberry for her fall wedding. We love the idea of this color combination, especially for that time of year. There is so much to be done with it! She will be tying in some gold, ivory & lace accents into the decor for a vintage flair.
For a softer Spring or Summer wedding approach, try tying in some beachy elements to this Dusty Blue palette. We love the subtle nautical elements for this one. The ivory roses give the centerpieces a soft touch, while the bold metallic vases contrast beautifully with the beachwood reception tables.
However you decide to use your wedding colors, make sure you don’t over-do it. It’s often best to have the most neutral color to be the base, perhaps in the table linens, and then add other pops of color. These pops of color can be in the floral, napkins, charger plates, menu cards, etc.
