• Small Town Wedding

  • Abby & Cody – May 23, 2015 – Lake Helen, FL

This small town wedding was heartwarming in so many ways. It was obvious that this young couple just adored each other, and they were able to celebrate that love in front of their closest friends & family.

It was a beautiful holiday weekend up in Lake Helen, FL. This small town is just outside of DeLand, about 40 minutes northeast of Orlando. The downtown area is quite a sight to see! We felt as though we were on the set of a quaint southern movie set for the next Nicholas Sparks love story. This couple grew up in this area and decided to say their I Dos in the town’s church, which had beautiful stained glass and large wooden pews.

Once the ceremony was over, guests walked down the street to this small town’s community hall. The Sweetheart & family tables were on stage, so the newlyweds can view all of their guests. One of our favorite qualities about this couple was how giving they were. The caterer they selected not only provided meals for all guests, but also matched the same number of meals to give to children in need as part of their services. Abby & Cody had met while being really involved with church activities and mission trips, so this only reflected their beliefs.

The neutral decor for the entire day was simple, but oh-so-lovely! It added to the small town vintage feel, with a modern twist with lots of mercury glass candles to add a romantic touch. One of our favorite parts {and perhaps may be a new trend} was that the couple cut a pie instead of the traditional wedding cake. The reasoning was simple-they like pie better than they liked cake. So, they and their guests enjoyed homemade pies for dessert before their bird seed send off!

Abby & Cody, thank you to you & your lovely families for letting us be a part of your special day! We enjoyed your heartwarming small town wedding and wish you all the best!
